Significance/Need of the Programme: Creating traffic awareness about road safety

Mr. Nasir Khan started the programme by welcoming all the dignitaries, Chairman, Principal, faculty members and students. The event was organized by “Assitant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla (Motor Vehicles Department J&K)” in collaboration with “District Legal Services Authority” Baramulla”,” District Mobile Magistrate” and “Sanctorum College of Education”.

Mr. Nasir khan took the initiative to talk about the traffic guidelines in order to promote awareness about traffic rules and road safety. Road safety is a national event aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately to reduce casualties due to road accidents. Millions lose their life and millions get injured in road accidents mainly due to lack of awareness or a behavior of  ignoring them. Therefore, to make people aware of the traffic guidelines and to persuade them to follow rules while on road, “Road Safety Seminar” was organized. He further went on saying about the changes that we need to bring in order to save human lives. The road should always have at least two lanes on each side with a divider in the centre. This will reduce the road accidents by a great number. It is very much advisable to have ample number of road signs put up to warn and alert the drivers. The citizens should have the social responsibility and help others in need. They should attend to the casualties and take immediate action. They should have the social responsibility to help elders, disabled persons and children when in need. It is the responsibility of both traffic police force and civilians to take severe steps to bring changes. He quoted the famous quote of Gandhi Ji “Be the change you want to see in the world”. Host of the programme called out on the stage Mr. Mudasir for Quran Recitation. After that guest of the occasion Mr. Faizan ul Haq (Distt. Mobile Magistrate) was called out to put a light on road safety. Right to life and safety is a fundamental right of any citizen. This is guaranteed under the constitution of every country in the world. Anything, which is hazardous to human, violates the right to life and road safety is as much on the agenda as any other area. He said the main reason behind the increasing trend of road accidents, resulting in injuries and deaths is lack of discipline and awareness among the drivers. So, there is a need for proper policy on road safety and its implementation and education. Our next guest Mr. Mubashir Gul (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) spoke about the general guidelines that we need to implement in our day to day lives. It is necessary for everyone to be aware of traffic signs and road rules. Traffic signs can give you important information that can ensure you safety and the safety of those around you. An appropriate systematic traffic management system is essential for safety and smooth traffic flows on roads, making a maximum usage of road facilities to enlarge the current road capacities. Then our other guests were also called out to throw some light on the importance of traffic rules. On this occasion a short video clip was played highlighting the road safety measures. Lastly worthy principal of  Sanctorum College of Education Prof. Dr Mohd Yousuf Ganai formally concluded the programme by giving vote of thanks. For refreshment snacks were served among participants.
