Report on Women’s Day Celebration

Significance/need of the programme:- To mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity

Ms. Rakhshandah started the programme by welcoming students, staff members, guests and Principal of Sanctorum college of Education who commemorated the International Women’s day in the college premises on 8th March 2021. The whole event was planned and organized by “52 RR”(Rashtriya Rifles) in collaboration with “Sanctorum College of Education”. 

All the members present there were warmly invited to witness the small programme which was organized in the college auditorium. The  honoured guests for this event were Dr. Noor Afshan Medical officer at SDH Sopore and Advocate  Nafia Wani practicing at sessions court Baramulla. A short speech was addressed by Dr Noor Afshan on Women’s day. In her speech she praised women who work hard everyday to accomplish individual and professional goals. She acknowledged the worth and significance of every women and their contribution to society as well. Be it in professional life or personal life, celebrating women is a sense of obligation to every women in one’s life she lastly quoted. Our second guest Advocate Nafia Wani started her speech by thanking college management for honoring her for the day. She said Women’s Day is no longer a new topic. It is celebrated across the world in order to recognize and appreciate the contributions and achievements of women in various fields. She spoke about the liberation of women in a broader way and further went on saying that we should celebrate every day as women’s day. She said her mother is very important in her life, who not only made her a better person but supported her through thick and thin.  Today’s woman is no longer a dependent soul, she is independent and self- reliant in every respect and is capable of doing everything. Let us recognize the importance of their existence and motivate them for the future achievements she lastly quoted. 

On this occasion a short video clip was played showing the achievements of women who have excelled in their fields with the flying colours. Later on a small prize giving ceremony was held, our worthy Principal and Major Arvind Kumar of 52RR were called on the stage to distribute prizes among the students and teachers for their outstanding performances. Lastly host of the programme called out on the stage worthy Principal Prof Dr Mohd Yousuf Ganai for giving vote of thanks. He concluded formally by thanking guests of honour for the occasion,participants and the organizers(52RR) who organized this small programme on Women’s day. For refreshment snacks and beverages were served among participants for nourishment.
